Fucking piece of shit Sam Altman should be executed on a wooden plank and his corpse should be displayed on a public square for the next 100 years.

I was saving up for building a pc but at this point I'd rather just throw my money in a fire than buy RAM or SSD. Even Apple has better Ram pricing than these goons.

Well maybe try vote blue next time!

But seriously that shit is USA problem only? I bought past week 2x16GB DDR5 6000 waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than this.

It's in India as well and it'll spread worldwide as RAM Manufacturers are cutting manufacturing and increasing price.

steam machine is gonna be like $1500 at this rate lol

[–] jackmaoist@hexbear.net 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's DOA if it's anywhere about like 650$. But with the current costs it might be the affordable alternative at this point.

Even then, since the Steam Machine will perform in some ways better and some ways worse than the PS5 (according to Digital Foundry at least), US$650 would be quite expensive in comparison to the competition.

Both PS5 and Xbox are far more powerful than the steam machine and games are far more optimised on consoles compared to PC. They'll just be better for gaming.

Probably, yes. We will see how it turns out performance wise in the end - given the large cooler the Steam Machine might be designed to run all of the parts quite hot. However the lack of VRAM in the Steam Machine will probably end up harming it a lot, just like with the Xbox Series S for a lot of games.

There has been some developer optimization for the Steam Deck, but that has been extremely sporadic and is nothing in comparison to the kind of optimization done for the PlayStation. The Steam Machine would likely be the same.

The various online writers who have breathlessly said that this thing will be as good as a PS5 Pro are delusional.

you can get a 2x16GB kit for $180 still, OP showed a way pricier one. Or a shitty newegg seller.
