Especially modern fiction based on mythology. Multiple layers of "some person made it up"
Like, Marvel's Thor was single-handedly responsible for a lot of people's renewed interest in Norse mythology and a massive chunk of it was just Jack Kirby coming up with wacky gibberish

Why is thor even blonde man, wtf. We know 3 things about thor's appearance from the eddas
1: Redhead
2: Fiery eyes
3: Twinky enough that he can fit Freyjas dress
Which means we can conclude that Thor is a twunk, and no work has replicated this.
We need to petition a lore-accurate comic book series titled "Thor: Greatest Twunk"
all the crossdressing and/or genderbending shapeshifting "as a joke" ""to trick someone"" was some of the more interesting things in nordic mythology and we've yet to see an adaptation do it justice
