This is due to the Epic lawsuit, the app store will be treated as an actual "app store" rather than a standard app which will have its own advantages

In fact any registered app store will basically have an almost play store like experience I suppose rather than having the standard extra resistance provided when you install an app currently

will basically have an almost play store like experience

pro tip: they won't

they'll be full of spammy ai slop so it'll be pretty close

That is impossible because Google will be legally required to make these changes as part of the Epic lawsuit. They have already lost the case to the Supreme Court and they have kind of settled with Epic before the court made a decision. If they back out then Epic will absolutely kill them in court again.

Technically they can make these changes in US only but that would probably be too much to make basically 2 different OS for US and ROW

Not only it's possible it's the only thing that will happen. google will do everything in their power to make them as hard to use is humanly possible. Lawsuits take years.

This is the result of an already years long lawsuit. Google can't drag it for long, in fact initially they were given only 2 weeks after the decision to implement this but like I said they've settled with Epic to make these changes from Android 17 onwards

So they can't drag for long yet they can drag it however long they need as long as enough money exchanged? 😺
