valve would have never taken the risk of using Linux if it was not stable in the first place
also you do realize the entire web runs in Linux, do you think these servers just randomly crash for no reason ?

The actual unix distribution hosts, those being primarily the BSD’s, are a very small portion of the net, where Linux is close to 90%.
