I totally thought those were the lyrics in the original until now
Nope! They're different on purpose, symbolizing that Fall Out Boy still has hope for the future. My GOATs.
You could probably do a 21st century cover. Enough random crap has happened over the last 25 years that there's probably more than enough content.
Fall Out Boy already did it back in 2023! And yes, it's awesome. And they alter a bit of the lyrics of the chorus to give it a more hopeful tone!
