I'm too poor for the helper so I have to use spaghetti sauce, white rice, and seasoning in my slop meal.
Check out this video it has some great tips for cooking good rice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kSiLTnKw0I
I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
If you guys want some knock-off, low-effort levantine rice I can drop the Great Value™ version of my mom's rice I've been using.
Drop however much rice you want in the rice cooker (wash yo rice first, don't be nasty!)
Add the water to the point that if you're touching rice it reaches the first joint of your finger
Throw a Bullion cube in there (some brands don't even have chicken in them if you want it to be veg-friendly) I shred a cube up a little with my hands to make sure it's evenly dispersed
Sprinkle a few hefty taps of cumin, do a little bit less of black pepper
Mix the rice up once it's finished to spread that buillon around and you're good to go.
You can fry up some vermicelli beforehand and cook the rice with it if you wanna be bougie, as well as frying some pine nuts to sprinkle on top after it's done, but those are added bonuses.
Eating it with plain yogurt is good enough for a dinner on days that I don't want to cook lol. Drink a protein shake after the fact if you want your ~~lead~~ protein up.
Hey so just want to chime in for a sec about the washing rice thing. Yes washing rice can help with taste/texture, and remove stuff from the rice you might not want. But specifically if you are buying ENRICHED white rice you should not be washing it everytime. They actually apply a fortifying mix of vitamins to the rice and washing it removes most of that. This is mostly important if your diet is heavily rice based because it can prevent deficiencies of those vitamins if you keep them in. So just keep in mind what type of rice you are dealing with, and don't assume all of them should be washed.
So yes it can make the rice have a better texture to wash even the enriched kind, but if you just keep the enriched rice as is it'll have some nice health benefits. So it's a trade off situation with that specific type of rice.
Am I a serf if I think that sounds great
https://www.plainchicken.com/spaghetti-rice/ here it is, but I use hamburger instead of sausage.
