That might have actually been DMT...

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

Nope, never did DMT.

It’s just the rest of the pagans were too square to smoke a J

Had some good reading. I'm not seeing much of a down side? DMT sounds like a great tool to help with trauma. Worse case is a bad trip. Which no one really wants, but the odds seem low.

It's not good for trauma. The reason is because it is extremely short acting (within about 10-15 minutes depending, you are back at baseline) so there is little to no time to do the work and to do the integration of the experience. Psilocybin remains the gold standard for psychedelic assisted therapy and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Also, a lot of people freak out on DMT because it hits so quickly and so incredibly hard. Lastly, it almost always leaves people with some varying level of amnesia about the experience, so even if you did manage to have a breakthrough or work things out, you would almost certainly forget as soon as you were sober again.

Yeah. Took me around a month to digest and I kind of made me lose interest in psychedelics

Was it anything you could have better prep for ,like location or ppl around you, or was it just bad from the start?

I had a similar setup as I used several times for shrooms before. However, that didn't prepare me for Changa (smoked DMT). There was no wiggle room. It hit me, I heard weird sounds and then time stopped. I saw myself from above and was disgusted by what I saw and super sad. Also scared because time just didn't want to continue. So I was there, frozen in misery for an unknown amount of time when finally the trees outside the window started morphing weirdly and then time came back and I got control over my body back. I had a disgusting taste in my mouth and just felt like a piece of shit for a while and had several panic attacks the following weeks.

Under the influence of shrooms I could move and change the setting, the music, my attention etc to navigate my way out bad experiences but that didn't work for Changa.

Def sounds like a really bad time.

Yea, it’s more of a positive trip than any other psychedelics. It’s a great meditation tool for me.
