I would be genuinely shocked to find an US police officer here.
In my area of rural east Texas a lot of the people who participate in 911 responses are volunteers from all walks of life.
For example the call can be passed to the volunteer fire department who will stay on the phone. It’s not inconceivable some are in lemmy
