I'm rewatching the whole series again and nearing the end, honestly I think it still holds up well now that the more recent seasons have embraced branching out in other directions.
In my opinion the show can be broken down into 3 eras, the classic era, the transition era, and the new era. Quality really tanks around season 11 (the first signs showing up in season 9. Honestly it blows my mind that The Principal and the Pauper and All Singing, All Dancing are in the same season as Lisa the Skeptic, Bart Carny and The Joy of Sect) and continued until the late teens though there were still some gems in there.
Overall, I'd say out of 36 seasons, only around 6 or 7 seasons worth were busts.
Can't disagree with Jack Burton.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I’m talkin’ to whoever’s listenin’ out there. Especially about The Simpsons.
Who?
