Been on my baking and cooking video slop for a few days. I watch YT not signed in and have removed all my Google things and YT apps etc. It shouldn't know anything about me so I assume this is YT as native as it gets. I watch it from firefox with ublock and all the things on two separate devices, don't use google search to get there etc. I search for the channel name I want to see, in this case Dessert Person, and watch what I want.

Noticed yesterday that in the recommended list on the righthand side there were all these other cooking and baking videos as there often is, but in between all of them there was some news agency video stanning the local neoliberal ghoul president of our country who made a speech in the UN. It was at 500k views after just having been up a few hours. I watched more baking videos and the same recommendation appeared not long after with over a million views. Literally about an hour later.

Then tonight I start watching the same baking channel and now there is a react video called something like "American reacts to the eloquent speech of Finnish president". Annoyed by this, I scrolled down the recommended list and behold, there were also a few "Putin will destroy us" full on right wing channel videos there, local. Among all the nice little "how to laminate dough" stuff that I was watching.

I get that the platform has my location, but other than that, this stuff is clearly pushed for everyone. No matter what you are in YT for. It's wild. And it can't be cheap to run a video of probably a very mid speech from 500k to 1 million in just a few hours. Literal whitest man civility slop bs that is completely about Western empire building.

I don't know man, it's a bit chilling to witness.
