I keep finding myself torn between my mother who is attempting (and unbeknownst to her, failing) to indoctrinate me into Islam, and my father, a spiritualist (essentially a Gnostic but less Christian), who claims to be able to talk to, “higher dimensional beings”, and a reincarnation of Vishnu. Oh, and he’s a misogynist. You can’t make this shit up.

Anyway, my father has these conversations with me in private, that he can’t have in front of my mother; this encompasses things like religion (which he disagrees with), philosophy, and politics (the latter of which I shall get to in a bit). My mother does the same; she tells me stuff that she can’t say in front of my dad, which is mainly Islam. I pretend to agree to both of them, to save myself an argument with them (although both have on occasion said things I agree with).

My mother told me to tell her stuff that my dad talks about to me, which I, to an extent, honour, although I do omit some details.

Politically, my mother has some pretty anti-imperialist tendencies, whereas my father is more or less a crypto-fascist; he’s an anti-communist, an individualist, an anti-Semite, and has said things against illegal immigration, and, as I said earlier, a misogynist, saying that women are, “possessive” in positions of power.

As you can tell, my family dynamics are, complicated, to put it mildly.

As a Gnostic myself hearing about your dad's politics is... interesting, to say the least.

Every fellow Gnostic I've ever met was solidly Left. I don't even know how you can reconcile things like racism & misogyny with Gnosticism in the first place. I'm not sure he understands what Gnosticism even is or what it seeks to accomplish judging by the sound of his views.

It is strange, he has said anti-capitalist things, and that all humans are equal, while also, again, being a misogynist. He has somewhat rolled back what he said about women being possessive in positions of power, saying that they are that way, “out of love”, but making generalisations about women like that is still of course misogynistic however you frame it.

Also, regarding anti-semitism, he did say that all 600 people that were off on 9/11 were Jews, although I have heard from other MLs that apparently Mossad was behind the attack(?) I’m not quite sure how true this is. He did say that they should, “kill all Jews”, but did roll back that statement saying that most Jews aren’t Zionists, and that Zionists are the problem.

He does also believe in the Illuminati, saying that they’re some sort of secret cult that worships the devil and intends to bring about some sort of single world government.

For lack of a better place to put this, he did say that the intelligent should rule.

His politics are pretty confusing, but I am very inclined to believe that he’s a fascist.

Strange stuff for sure.

I wouldn't listen to anyone claiming 9/11 was done by Mossad as this is just a rebrand of "Jews did 9/11" which is of course nonsense.

Yeah, you’re probably right. Thanks for listening to my rant by the way, I don’t have comrades IRL to talk to about this.
