Meanwhile on Beehaw
Welcome to Meanwhile on Beehaw, a community dedicated to sharing criticism of or discussing shortcomings with the Beehaw.org lemmy instance without fear of retaliation from stans or current Beehaw members.
Rules
1. No Queerphobia or bigotry
Absolutely no queerphobia of any kind is permitted in this community. This includes homophobia, transphobia, enbyphobia, ableism, and racism. Any infractions of it here or in user history will result in a permanent ban when caught. There is zero tolerance for this.
2. No Misinformation
You will not intentionally spread misinformation here. If sharing events that happened to you please include immutable sources like archive.is links and screenshots in addition to hard links back to Beehaw (this is important since users can edit or delete comments and erase evidence).
Anyone intentionally spreading misinformation or trolling will be banned.
3. No Beehaw Apologia
This is a community for people to express criticism towards Beehaw, and especially their less favorable practices. This is not a place to defend them or their practices and users who choose to defend them will be banned from here permanently.
If you dislike this feel free to post on the ǃyptb@lemmy.dbzer0.com community for some validation. Bans for this won't be overturned though. You may appeal this infraction once if you can prove yourself a victim of Beehaw's practices or users, after that any further infractions are not appealable.
4. Stay on-topic
This community is ONLY about criticism towards the Beehaw.org Lemmy instance, it is not for discussion of any other instances. For discussions related to tankie instances check out !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works. Discussion of Blahaj.zone here is forbidden as these discussions almost always exclusively break rule 1.
This community is intentionally homed on sh.itjust.works to ensure lack of federation with Beehaw.

Back before they defederated with LW. I loved beehaw and it was one of the only instances I used a separate account with for several months. They were just too small for me to feel super connected with, but they are not just like any other instance. They are very selective about what they post. Like just let them pick the articles and stuff. There are a half dozen people that post that stuff and it is all connected to their core mods and admin.
They are the place to go be real real. Like, no attitudes, agendas, or individualized negativity allowed. I identify strongly with their moderation and systematic positivity. I don't agree with their insular isolationism. I think I have a bit more tolerance for eccentricities in others, like I greatly value what you bring to the fediverse.
As a loose abstract gauge, look at something like the 3d printing community that I mod. I could easily try to post something there regularly just to be doing something. There is regular stuff in my YouTube feed I could post, but honestly, I'm not good at finding top content, and my interests and skill level are not common. Also, it is just a tool for me and not even close to my only hobby or interest. My role as a mod is actually just to be the janitor. If there is an issue flagged, I will read every detail and sort it out, giving the benefit of the doubt to all in every possible case that comes to mind. Personally, I'm both a mod and a user. These are very separate roles. I won't even take action as a mod, if I am engaged as a regular user. I will ask another mod to review and act.
Anyways, this is how I view beehaw. They are like an instance that embodies this kind of policy. They have a few people that slow churn the content they want and want people to discus and engage with. For everyone else, they want us to engage with meaningful discussion, and conversation. They don't want a full feed, or loads of communities. They want depth. It is nuanced, but there is a certain value in that savory flavor. You can be open there, and no halfwit child, shill, or sadists are welcome. That is the place where you have no right to be negative or narcissistic.
Anyways, that is my take.
