Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

Am I evil or something? I felt nothing seeing it, I mean it was gross, but like, knowing who it is kind of made me not care. If the video had it happen to anyone else , I would be just like you.

I am pretty happy he's dead but it's been 8 hours since I saw the video and I still can't eat well

I hope you never get desensitized to violence the way a lot of us are, friend. The last one that really affected me was the Christchurch massacre video, and even then I was only bothered for maybe an hour or two. I watched Charlie Kirk die and my only reaction was basically "heh, owned." If he wasn't a complete piece of shit it still would've been sad only in an abstract sense, I don't think this sort of thing can really affect me anymore.

seeing it on the internet with no stakes and nobody you know impacted has to be a factor. I suspect even the most liveleak addled minds would feel differently if it started to hit closer to home. Hopefully we don't have to find out

And thats okay. No one really knows how one reacts in the moment and how it affects them in the long term. Besides ptsd is a thing, so take care comrade!

Am I evil or something?

Nah probably just desensitized from years of violent content, I know I am to an extent, the one shot and blood spurting from the video is far less gruesome than say ISIS/cartel beheadings or industrial accidents videos

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

Thing is, I don't go watching this stuff, in fact I avoid it. I only watched it because I hate the guy

You're not alone.

Even as someone who grew up on the pre 2000 internet, this is a shocking scene. Most people in the west do. You have to be very online not to find it distressing.

If someone dying doesn't shake you, even if they deeply have it coming, it's probably time to do some soul searching.

keep in mind I live in Palestine and have seen people get shot before

CW: Discussion of Charlie Kirks death in somewhat graphic detailHonestly, after having seen pictures of the scores of bodies, a lot of them children, coming out of Gaza, I thought I wouldn't be shaken by the footage of the murder, but watching that man's neck just explode into a fountain of blood still profoundly shocked me. Seeing a corpse is still different from witnessing the action itself, especially in such gory fashion. I basically had to go onto a tour of his greatest hits to remind me of why I shouldn't be too depressed about what I just saw.

his greatest hits to remind me of why I shouldn't be too depressed about what I just saw

yea ain't no way I am doing that

too much racism ,dude was scum

but the people saying his death was not gory are ?? idk

I have seen people get shot before and I live in a pretty infamously dangerous country

also thing is I am sure lots of us have seen images of people in gaza but I tend to avoid this shit because it horrifies me ,I checked the video for kirk by mistake (friend sent me somethn about it)

[–] reaper_cushions@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, the racism is pretty "fun". I'm a Central Asian man, so I definitely feel you. Also, I clicked a link that "pretty much confirmed he's dead". Turns out that was just video footage of his assassination.

Same as you Habibi ,Also look we made the HexeBear flag

I disagree that I need to do some soul searching. You have to temper your hate, and this is part of that process. The death of your enemy cannot shake you, even though they are absolutely human. To actually take a life with your own hands should always shake you though.

That said, it is certainly one of the more gorey videos I have seen, especially given the quality of the footage. Very anti-Hollywood.

I don't know about that, I'm not the type of person to watch violence, I constantly avoid seen images/videos from Palestine or the Ukraine war and I can even feel nauseous with some graphic violence in movies. But with the video yesterday? My first reaction was a big smile.

[–] Bloobish@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't if it's my job or just myself, working at a hospital, but I felt very little from the video. Not even like a pang of oh no like I do for videos of people being injured, just a bland "huh well that's that he's dead".

[–] MohammedTheCommunistPalestinian@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I feel a bit better now but still somewhat bothered by it

[–] Bloobish@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

That's understandable, that was more or less a execution of a person and is a sad sign of the times of the current political collapse of the US as a state. The only "positive thing" is that he likely lost consciousness so fast and then went decorticate meaning his brain likely suffered immediate injury at which point blood loss followed suit.
