Meanwhile On Grad
Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!
What is a Tankie?
Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.
(caution of biased source)
Basic Rules:
Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.
Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.
Apologia — (Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.
Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.
Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post, rather than engaging in argument.
Brigading — If you're here because this community was linked in another thread, please refrain from voting, commenting or manipulating the post in any way. All votes are public, and if you are found to be brigading, you will be permanently banned.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

Ultra wide screenshot is unreadable on mobile
IMHO tankies and fascists are all just different flavors of the same authoritarian apology
Turn on auto-rotation or put the image through an image-to-text website
e: dont fUCKing downvote ME im being HELPFUL
This is the funniest comment I've read in months!
its NOT funny
And it's not helpful, either, so...
IT WAS HELPFUL, IT WAS
lol
Your solution was to suggest auto rotate...
gonna auto rotate you in a second
I assume you're posting because you want people to see what you post. (Otherwise why would you post?) So I was just giving you a helpful suggestion that most people won't read an ultra wide screenshot. The majority of web traffic comes from people on mobile devices. Even in landscape view it's way too wide to read reasonably, and essentially no one is gonna run some image to text processing on some random post.
If you're interested in people seeing what you post then i would suggest either making the browser window small before you screenshot it, and/or copy n paste the text into your post.
Just a friendly suggestion
No u
god ufcking damnit motherfucking god damnit damnit fuck fuck damnit
the other comment was funny, but this is funnier :)
Yeah, I don't get it. I just turned my wrist 90 degrees. It didn't seem like a big deal, so I thought maybe my client is just awesome. Opened Lemmy in a browser, same thing. If my old ass can figure it out...
Is your screen 14 inches tall? Even in landscape mode you'd have to flick the screen back and forth and back and forth and back and forth...
Blorp on my phone didn’t like rotating at all. It skipped 37 picture posts ahead every time I tried.
I think I’m understanding this comment correctly. There’s a known bug with Blorp where the feed skips around when the screen size changes. I assumed people wouldn’t change their screen size often, but this long image is actually a great reason to rotate your phone.
I don’t have the bandwidth in this release, but I should work on stabilizing it so it doesn’t skip around when you rotate.
that's good for the screen though. it likes it
Pixel 7, Boost app, I click on the image, rotate, and it's quite readable. Firefox was basically the same.
I guess it would be different if my near sight was bad and I do sympathize with people that are having trouble. Maybe it's not a bad thing to encourage more narrow screenshots or, as in the case of many communities, encouraging textual captions for images.
Ask me again in a couple years once I'm past 50 and I may have different answer.
