I wish a cat would choose me. I stand by the window all day and they never stop by

[–] CMDR_Horn@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Rookie mistake right there. Gotta stop wanting it. The mysterious house hunting cat will only appear where they are least desired

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It’s true. Try wandering around talking about how you’re allergic to cats.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is how I met my wife as well.

[–] AtariDump@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

I too am allergic to this guy’s wife

I can tell from experience that doesn't work. Fortunately, because I'd be heartbroken if a little critter like that showed up, knowing I'd have to live on the streets from that point on as I can't be in the same house as a cat. 😞

You can have all of the kittens in our neighborhood then. We just rescued 2x starving 8 week olds from a drain pipe (one died) just to find a fucking 2 week old screaming in our backyard. Luckily we found someone who can bottle feed the adorable asshole every 3 hours.

The kitten distribution system fucking blows when you live near a feral cat colony. We already have 6 cats, of which 4 are foster fails because we're suckers and don't think strangers will take proper care of them. We purposefully haven't named the new one because we can't keep her and still provide proper veterinary care.

Then come on down to Texas. They're the cutest fuckers you'll ever meet. The one we just found a foster for is a super pretty dilute calico, but if she's anything like our dilute calico she'll be a beautiful bitch.

It will take more than kittens to get me to enter Texas

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 month ago

That's definitely fair. Our too many cats is a big reason we can't leave.

I'm sorry about you living in Texas. I won't even step foot in your country right now and most of my countrymen won't touch products made by your country.

Your whole country is pretty messed up, and Texas seems to be leading the charge in the amount of crazy shit they can put into law.... Right next to Florida.

feral cat colony.

Have you looked in if your local government has a catch a release program. Where I am some of the rural areas have a process where they spay or neuter, clip the ear then release them back to the area.

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

They do, but there's a limit on what we can afford, even with it being subsidized

[–] dingus@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I had to go to a shelter to get mine. No regrets. :)

[–] Rakonat@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I'm not allowed in the shelters because there is no way I'm walking out will less than a half of the animals there.

[–] Skua@kbin.earth 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I assume this is a joke but if it's not you should absolutely find a shelter near you and go talk to them. You can hang out with the potential adoptees while you're there

[–] SolidShake@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

It is a joke. Like reverse cat shopping at pet stores
