Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Being uncomfortable around LGBT I can understand. It's dumb, you're dumb, you're stupid, but I somewhat understand. You've been brainwashed for decades and need a minute to adjust... I guess?

But scared?

And of all beings, snoop Dogg? Wasn't he pretending to be a bad ass gangsta rapper?

Afraid?

Afraid of two people holding hands?

Afraid of seeing a woman who might have some manly facial features?

Afraid of generally just really nice people living their lives?

Afraid of two (or holy hells, maybe... Even three!??) people that just love each other and live together in the same home and maybe like to do things together in the privacy of their own home that you maybe would not do?

AFRAID OF WHAT, YOU SHIZZLE FUCK?

He isn't afraid of gay people.

He is afraid of having to have the conversation with his grandkid about gay people having a baby due to the content of a kid's movie.

Sort of like how a grandparent would be uncomfortable discussing procreation with their grandkid. Shit, parents are uncomfortable discussing that with their own kids and that is a far easier and more straightforward thing than discussing sperm donors.

He is scared that a kid's movie will inspire questions that he is uncomfortable answering as a grandparent.

What will he do when his grandkids learn about his history and the incarceration and accusations, I'd be afraid of that more if I were him

Why is the assumption by these people that there is a sexual component required in the explanation? Age appropriate explanations are easy.

"Know how some families have one mommy and one daddy? Some families have two mommies or two daddies instead."

If the kids ask about the actual mechanics of procreation they are old enough to hear something like:

"Some couples adopt or they find someone to have a baby with who helps them make a family."

Was there any need to mention surrogacy or donors? No. Kids don't need to oversexualize queer people. Adults don't need to over sexualize queer people! When people are sheltered from our existence until they are in their early teens they tend to think of gay couples as explicitly just sexual relationships rather than romantic or family building ones that are as dynamic as straight relationships because they were introduced to them as a sexual mechanics first kind of way. It's dehumanizing.

Did boss baby raise fears in parents that they might have to explain procreation? If no, then two mothers shouldn't.

And just telling a kid that every constellation of parents are possible, it's just that some matchups are more common than others doesn't seem like daunting task.

I remember when old people were boycotting Frozen because it didn't have the traditional "boy saves the girl" narrative. They thought it would inspire uncomfortable questions from their grandkids.

Fuck people who think like this.

I don't think kids can even procounce or comprehend the words 'artificial insemination'.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Here's a phrase that every child can understand, "science made it possible".

Nah he’s just rich enough to be bigoted.

Crazy and sad considering the persona that made him rich.

Reminds me of when Dave Chappelle called his audience poor for booing Musk. Money and the Hollywood bubble changes people. There's probably a few that can survive, but they need to always be defensive.

Sex is frightening. Don't pretend you've never gotten sweaty palms, or chickened out when it came to the clutch.

Yeah, the first time
