What's with all the British and English flags everywhere all of a sudden? (feddit.uk)

Been out today and immediately noticed our local mini roundabouts with red crosses painted on them and nearly every motorway bridge with either a union flag or a flag of St George fixed them. It's like they've just appeared overnight? What's suddenly brought this on?

I do not approve of this comment, using the divisive label "gammon"! I laughed though :-)
