In the replies he reveals his great grandfather was THE CHIEF ASSASSIN AND SPYMASTER

of pre-revolution tsarist russia lmfao

i don't believe this, this is a guy doing a bit, no one can be this stupid

[–] ShareThatBread@hexbear.net 62 points 3 weeks ago (5 children)

Yeah. This comment is just what-the-hell

Never actually got his name. My dad had a bad relationship with his parents (one was which was the surviving daughter). So he didn't like tslking about his family. I'd have to ask my aunt. I just know that he was a Cossack who had the role of Chief Assassin and Spymaster.

Pretty funny that this guy has all this legit animus toward communists but can’t even remember the name of the person the offense was given to.

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 45 points 3 weeks ago

So much for the tolerant left. Not even being willing to forgive the guy whose job was to personally have you assassinated and likely managed to kill many of your friends, family and associates.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 33 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Wouldn't that title really compromise your role?

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Spymasters are in charge of managing spies, not doing spying, usually.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

So they would know who all the spies are. If anything it would be more important they have their identity hidden than any specific spy

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 18 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No, if you're a country's spymaster then you probably have some spies that report directly to you, but there's a chain of command and deliberately isolated cells that mean that the majority of actual spies are outside of the specific awareness of the spymaster, or aren't identifiable.

Also, if the spymaster is captured, you're already fucked because it means they were able to kidnap a top official from the capitol.

And if there is a chain of command with one person at the top, it's probably a great deal of effort to go through the theater of trying to conceal to ultimately keep a secret that isn't very difficult to figure out because the spymaster still needs to be working in constant active collaboration with various officers, etc. Also, the title usually isn't public-facing anyway, not that it really matters.

You seem to know a lot about being a spymaster... cat-confused

I have brainrot from reading and listening to stuff about the NKVD, CIA, and so on.

[–] Edie@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

I want some of that brainrot please

My father was the greatest samurai in the empire. he was the shogun's decapitator

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 3 weeks ago

Lol so his dad likely cut relations with his granddad because he likely was an asshole but he is uncritically defends him lmao.

The communists killed my grandfather just because he disagreed with them politically and was an obergrupperfuhrer in the SS

A lot of gusano failchildren and grandchildren are like this. They've seen their parent/grandparent as a "kind and good" person, because they are nice to them and so take their stories to heart about how much better things would've been if they got to remain the rich and powerful scumlords before communism ruined everything. They've grown up with this idea, internalised it, and most people in the west have such a knee jerk "communism bad" response that they almost never actually receive pushback for it.

I imagine their dads are like cotton hill and they have daddy issues.
