best part is immigrants to the US commit crimes at lower rates than US citizens, so this would raise the crime rate
Jimmy Knuckles lost his job down by the docks when a migrant from Argentina took it over, so sad.
American crimes first!
Immigrants to the US also have a protective effect, i.e. having immigrant neighbours makes you less likely to commit crimes
Legit question why?
The study didn't examine why
You could speculate a range of reasons - offending could be less of a norm in these communities or there could less opportunities to offend in areas with stronger community bonds or a greater risk of punishment outside the traditional police/justice system. Migrants are also more likely to engage in socializing and exchange of help with neighbors, and consequently their neighboring helps strengthen community links.
that sounds like the kind of thing where immigrants tend to live near each other rather than a real impact on non-immigrants behavior
Immigrants in general are less likely to offend, but in this instance the data indicated that non migrants were less likely to offend in communities with a higher number of immigrants.
interesting. i wonder what the actual reason is, obviously not a magical aura. also wonder if it holds for the "castro freed my grandpa's slaves" types.
