i've seen the originals, never really watched the reboot. i might give it another chance.
during the making of the originals, changing in and out of costume was a big pain, so the ape actors would eat lunch in costume. and when they did, they tended to sit together: gorillas with gorillas, chimps with chimps, orangutans with orangutans.
it's the kind of thing that gets talked about along with the stanford prison experiment, like it's a demonstration of some natural human tendency to racially segregate, rather than being a reflection of the class society the actors grew up in, and the class society presented in the film, which is itself a reflection of the class society the actors grew up in.
