Cis dude from the city that tortured Matthew Sheppard here. Pretty surprised to leave from a place where I had to stick up for the LGBTQ+ community all the damned time to find a surprising amount of people not respecting my orientation. Not saying anything about the community or any other actors within the community. Just saying it feels awfully familiar. One glance at the comments here, and you can see that these actors don't represent anybody but themselves. I don't know about you, but I view hatred to be a screwed up form of empathy. We can't help but see ourselves in others. And too often, we see the parts of ourselves we would rather shun or reprimand than accept.
So many cis people hate seeing lgbtq+ people suggest all people might not be cis.
People hate being forced to look in a mirror, and I love forcing them to look >:3
I honestly expected lemmy to not lose it over satire this tame.
Of course all people aren't cis. Anything else would suggest trans people don't exist. No half-decent person thinks that. Cis or not.
The meme (not you) is being criticised for suggesting it's possible and even good to "convince" cis people to become trans.
No-one likes that. Whether they're cis or not.
