I love Waititi, too, but I wonder if he's the right person for this. Karl Urban fucking nailed it in the first one, but I am now picturing him in the judge helmet holding a shake weight.
No, that was the reboot. You kids already forget about Stallone?
Forget? No. Forgive? Also no.
There was never a Dredd movie with Stalone and if you say otherwise I'll be doing 20 in the isocubes.
Those are fighting words. New Dredd has no riz.
Dredd has anticharisma, thats the whole point of the character. He isnt likeable, he isnt nice, he doesnt do empathy, he is the application of the law as it is written and applied with zero flexibility... which would actually be an improvement in many countries.
I actually like it as a fun campy 90s action movie in the universe but I hate it as a representation of Judge Dredd.
That's fair. Never really had any attachment to the comic character myself, just enjoyed the 90s blockbuster craziness. Serious, it absolutely is not.
Definitely wasn't the first one, but I agree Karl Urban was excellent as Dredd.
Shhhhhh.... The Stallone movie was not a Dredd movie.

Anytime someone my age talks about how weird memes are today, I throw that line out. The things we thought were funny enough to repeat ad nauseum... And I still say "the wifemeister, makin coffeeee" when my wife makes coffee.

It was a good, fun in universe movie. It was not a great Judge Dredd movie.
