7. No duplicate posts.


If a source you used was already posted by someone else, the autoMod will leave a message. Please remove your post if the autoMod is correct. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.


8. Misinformation is prohibited.


Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.


9. No link shorteners.


The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.


10. Don't copy entire article in your post body


For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

The fact that the US effectively has two political parties for, what, 340 million or so people (yes yes I know eg. the Greens etc. exist, but they're all such minor players that they might as well not even exist) is just unbelievable. I know it's a more or less guaranteed outcome with first-past-the-post voting, but it's still just crazy that something hasn't been done to fix this – not that either of the two "one party" parties has any interest in fixing it.

I live in Finland, with a population of about 5.6 million people, and we have around 20 active political parties ranging from literal neofascist to communist. 9 of them are currently in Parliament, one of which is a democratic socialist party (and I don't mean social democrat, although they're also in Parliament). Even with all this variety, I feel like we could use more and more diverse political parties. Can't even imagine how the average American feels about their voting choices (at least if that average American isn't a fascist wannabe, they're probably very happy right now)
