Trump was told by Walmart etc., that unless he reduced the tariffs on China, they would have empty shelves in the near future. Wouldn't look good for Trump and his claims, so had to be dropped.

It seems that the admin fundamentally misunderstood the level of dependence on China when starting the trade war.

@yogthos@lemmy.ml Yeah, Trump isn't a deep thinker. I read an article the other day from a former insider confidante, who says that this is the troubling part of his persona — He's too emotional.
