An anime to set the tone for such a date: HOKUTO NO KEN
Ah, Fist of the North Star. Probably not the sort of fisting the girl in the comic strip is after. Needs more tentacles.
The testosterone injection will be appreciated by the dude, which in turn will appreciate the girl properly

Is that anime good compared to modern ones?
Depends which ones you compare it to. It's from the mid 1980s, so don't expect stellar animation. There's some filler, but nothing on the levels of Naruto or DBZ. Personally, I wholeheartedly rate it as "watch it", or "MUST watch" if you want to know where the manliness of Japanese media peaked.
The opening theme is still one of the very best.

He also catches an arrow with only 2 fingers, then flings it back using only said fingers. There's also the time he throws a large spear back at some dude over 1km away
Or when he shoots ki with his ginger, as if its bullets! Or when awakes from sleeping on a table, and leaves it so powerfully and manly that said table simply disintegrates!
I guess we can all relate to him!
