Not being limited by physical media has ruined everything, frankly
Nah, I'm putting this squarely on executives being dogshit at actually managing game development for the purpose of appeasing shareholders.
Yeah but back in The Day publishers would push for small file sizes to fit on less physical media.
Then there were things like late 360 games coming with like six disks
going from swapping disks on whichever mass effect to pirating it on pc was cool
