History will continue. This isn't the first time this has happened and it won't be the last. Does kind of kill my optimism that the human race will reach a kind of Star Trek like utopia anytime soon though.
To be fair, Trek has a canonical nuclear war in like, 2026.

Yeah I'm increasingly seeing the sort of people who could be the great grandparents of utopians. I'm just also increasingly seeing open fascists who are mad about it
