News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

I feel like 3 kinda comes with the territory of politics. The sort of people who mod political forums have more rigid ideas of what ideas should prevail in the discourse than someone modding a board for embedded electronics, not that that's an inherently bad thing.

It just feels worse because a greater portion of Lemmy is politics; here I've caught bans for being insufficiently pro-Kamala months after the election or not going along with a china bad circlejerk, but at reddit people catch bans for "John Brown did nothing wrong" or just posting footage from Palestine.

Yeah. To be clear, I don’t feel "persecuted" by the administration, just the community. That’s a very important difference.

the gaza/palestine thing is very tricky, many of the subs have been infiltrated by pro-israeli mods, early on the war, they were spamming "jews are doing nothing wrong, if we jews dont destroy them they will destroy us", i pointed out in one, where the war was instigated and started by the same person who is keeping himself out of jail in israel.

Israel has a terrible PM. But the war was started by Hamas.

Pro-zionist sentiment was definitely prevalent on here following Oct 7th. It took many months for anti-zionist sentiment to outpace it, thanks to many people debunking their misinformation and sharing articles that showed the reality that most Western Media downplayed if not ignored

On places like reddit, we mostly continue to see more and more banning of anything anti-zionist. r/Palestine might be the only place left that isn't aggressively pro-zionist on there

on r/worldnews my whole acct was suspended for 7 days for contradicting bibi, and HAMAS, who started the war, the commentor threw a fit and made a nasty comment and reported me, sometimes you can tell who reported you by looking at your previous message.

Adi Callai has done a phenomenal analysis of the situation, The Gaza Ghetto Uprising. I highly recommend if you're interested.

Reddit is a lost cause, seeing how worldnews was regulated to promote Zionist disinformation was enough for me to leave. I think the kind of open source and federated communities such as Lemmy have much potential. Hard to say if they will be or not when it comes to genuine organization of working class people, but hopefully it can help in some way.

I talked some shit during the election and didn't cop a ban lol. I guess you either had more visibility or were in even more extreme places than I was?
