Hey, you guys ever heard of brain drain?
Because we've got a nice Europe over here ready to show you some humanity
I don't even know where to begin looking but I'm interested.
England has its own problems, but for anyone who decides the North East of England sounds appealing, I'd be quite happy to do the traditional British thing of sitting in a pub and putting the world to rights whilst enjoying a nice beer with you 🍻
We're all either going to die in a blaze of fire within 4 years or we're going to survive with some pretty hefty PTSD. Either way, we're gonna need some friends to enjoy it with.
Anyone willing to help with citizenship 👀
Just asking for a friend
(That friend is me)
some countries allow citizenship based on ancestry. Germany, Poland, etc. If one or more of your ancestors came from europe you might be eligible to claim citizenship that way. if you can work from home, you might be able to get a long stay visitor's visa in some countries, which will allow you to live there, but not work in their local market. after a period of time you'd be eligible for permanent residency which would allow you to work there though.
Interesting. My grandparents were from Germany and I’m an engineer.
I’m more the type to stand and fight fascism than run away though. Hell the AFD is a problem there too. Don’t act like it’s not y’all.
But I’d like to start looking into it if shit gets real bad which I’m pretty sure it will
I'm moving to Sweden in about 6 months! Or sooner if things go wildly to shit before then...
I recently saw a video claiming that the US taxes it's citizens even if they live abroad. Is that true? If so, how are you going to deal with that? Paying taxes for two countries would not leave you a lot to live on...
Most countries have agreements to not double tax people. So if you tell the US government you already pay taxes to Sweden, they will waive their own tax requirements
I believe you're only taxed the delta between what would be your US rate and another country's rate if said country has a lower rate.
In addition to what others said, there is also the FEIE, quite a generous tax deduction for US citizens who live abroad.
Tempting to flee, but also don't want to leave death cult fascists in sole control of the deadliest nuclear arsenal on the planet. I'm staying put.
I would, but guns are my hobby and I don't speak Czech.
switzerland, but it's hella expensive there. France has an active hunting scene as well. No hand guns allowed here for civilians, but rifles and shotguns are allowed with a license.
I mean, even in the UK I can own a rifle and shotgun with minimal hassle.
But I can't in good faith recommend anyone moves here from the US tbh.
Germany would be a solid bet of you're into shooting - lots of hunting going on there, and generally a high level of English proficiency also.
No ability for me to move for quite a few reasons... I need the option to for a more literal interpretation (volunteer to test physical brain preservation).
Eh. Once Elon gets bored of the USA, he'll start taking over the rest of the world. Nowhere is safe. Capital is global!
