Off My Chest
RULES:
I am looking for mods!
1. The "good" part of our community means we are pro-empathy and anti-harassment. However, we don't intend to make this a "safe space" where everyone has to be a saint. Sh*t happens, and life is messy. That's why we get things off our chests.
2. Bigotry is not allowed. That includes racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and religiophobia. (If you want to vent about religion, that's fine; but religion is not inherently evil.)
3. Frustrated, venting, or angry posts are still welcome.
4. Posts and comments that bait, threaten, or incite harassment are not allowed.
5. If anyone offers mental, medical, or professional advice here, please remember to take it with a grain of salt. Seek out real professionals if needed.
6. Please put NSFW behind NSFW tags.

People are people
The first groups to come to a new platform are the hopefuls, the trendsetters, and the fringe groups ... Sadly this last group is the loudest.
I block all politics subs, I have about 100 people on my block list, and Lemmy is pretty nice and helpful. There are a bunch of people I haven't blocked yet but give tags like troll/combative/talking points. Helps me keep track... And most of the anger and hate... From the same tagged people over and over and over.
If this seems like alot of work, consider joining beehaw, they have very active moderation, and if you stick to local communities you will have a more curated experience.
Including down votes! There are some people who basically only downvote every thing, their thumbs must be tired.
Ohh my first downvote proves my point @Orbituary@lemmy.world graced me with a downvote, look at their comment history, they are filled with combative vitriol and hate ; Great example that while lemmy can seem hateful and noisy, its just a few people.
We see more of these people because they are loud, post often, and rejected from other platforms. Lemmy van be great dispite them.
