US Americans, how do you follow national news?

That's an interesting perspective - I hear that what's bad about it is more the data tracking, but that it delivers on content so people like it. How does it compare to YouTube in terms of blocking content, do you happen to know?
I don't really know that much about what YouTube blocks. All I know is I get a shit ton .ore lgbt and neurodivergent people on TikTok randomly then I ever do on YouTube. I get my diversity and different people. YouTube just seems like it's all click bait shit I can't handle. "Top ten ***" kinda stuff. And when I tried YouTube shorts I couldn't find anything relatable or wanting. And they all seemed very just generic.
Sorry, I dunno where the word blocking came from in my reply - fat fingering I guess:-).
TikTok is well known for honing in on your preferences - which is both great and perhaps dangerous at the same time, be careful? Like Google, they may start charging money to get what you currently receive now for free.
That's really odd that your YouTube is showing generic stuff - for most people it shows the same content, so you must be stopping their trackers somehow.:-)
Well I do have setup's that stop as much adds and tracking I can get. Including a hacked version of TikTok. And it's giga corps regardless of what country. I always never trust them.
Very interested into this, where did you get that? At the moment I'm using a burner phone to use TikTok to keep my privacy, so a revanced version of TikTok would be nice
Lol I'm actually using revanced manager to get it
Thanks, I'll give it a try
Cool! Although if it's able to detect that you enjoy "lgbt and neurodivergent people", then it sounds like the tracking isn't being blocked. On the other hand, it's kinda working for you and that's mainly what matters:-).
Honestly I trust foreign countries with my data a lot lot more then the US.
VERY true, sadly. However, I would consider China as one of the exceptions to that... mainly bc it sounded like that's what John Oliver was telling me to do:-P
Don't really watch mainstream news like them. To much incentive for capatilism and money then actually reporting on what people should need to know. Which is another reason why I generally get news from just people who are not in the media. :)
I mean, while that is a true statement, he in particular has been allowed to get away with saying some VERY anti-capitalist takes, and moreover TikTok itself is somewhat known for selectively altering what content is fed to people as well - e.g. more vs. less "attractive" people. So while I'm not arguing against your statement, I'm saying there seems more to that story:-).
