An list of potential memes: https://feddit.org/post/2379333/1722394

A meme posted to !fediverselore@lemmy.ca : https://feddit.org/post/2421485

@Emperor@feddit.uk already expressed interest.

For me, there are a few pros and cons.

Pros:

  • Memes are an easy way to convey a message
  • Fediverse-specific content is always nice

Cons

  • Memes communities tend to be very popular
  • Due to the topic of the community, there might be some heated debates and discussions in the comments (the example above with the vegan cat food is a good example). That might be quite time-consuming to follow and moderate

Based on this, I think we would need probably at least 5 mods to make sure the community stays sufficiently moderated.

Are any of you interested?

Good to know, thanks! 2 more mods to go 😄

even if we don't find additional mods at this exact moment lemmy know if you still want to create the community as I'm sure we'll find willing mods in the near future🌻

I'm on the cautious side on this one, seeing the cat vegan foot debate is still getting comments a week after, I expect the potential of reports for memes talking about such dramas to be quite high 😅

honestly that's totally fair👍

I think that's an exception. It'll mostly be beans.

Feel free to comment on !fedimemes@feddit.uk so that I can appoint you as mod

(I know you're an admin, but let's pretend)
