News
Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I think there's a non-zero probability that the whole thing was a set up to make himself a martyr.
I'm not going to believe that without evidence. However, if real, solid evidence of that scenario came to light, it would not surprise me one bit.
that also makes you susceptible to confirmation bias. remain vigilant and objective. not preaching to you specifically but everyone here.
I just knew that someone was gonna bring up confirmation bias, and of course, it had to be you.
Why do I have to be right all the time???
Aaaaaand scene
"had to be you"
do I know you?
also, as I said, "not preaching to you specifically but everyone here." You knew someone would bring it up, because it is an important point to keep in mind. Wasn't trying to dunk on you, chill the fuck out.
Not that I know of, but I enjoy getting to know new people! Other than receiving an ambiguous reply that led to miscommunications from a farting photographer, how's your day going?
I'm not the user you replied to. I'm just some asshole who thought it would entertain other users (and hopefully you) if I strung together a bunch of statements that somewhat exemplify confirmation bias.
You should have SLAMMED me
I REFUSE!
You're not wrong. I do my best every day to assess information as it stands, and I am definitely skeptical of something I see reported in only one place. If it seems like it could be legitimate, I want to see additional and extensive reporting on it from multiple journalistic outlets.
I care very much about the alignment of what I believe and reality. I have watched a close friend devolve into conspiratorial thought (not politically, thankfully), come out of it, and then fall down again. I've been in that same kind of mental decline in my own past, but medication and conscious effort go a long way. It's still work, every day, but it's the kind of work I am happy to do.
"Don't have expectations!"
No. I refuse. I expect people to piss and moan about every little silly thing as they destroy the world. I expect people to blame everyone but themselves as they realise their descendants are going to have to endure unliveable conditions. And then I expect the human race to dwindle and expire.
I'm keeping my expectations.
that is not at all the point. the point is to be aware of your expectations, really examine new evidence objectively, and make sure you're not accepting it just because it feels good.
I kinda disagree since they said "non-zero". They're not really making a claim, so I don't really think they need evidence. Pretty much everything has a non-zero chance
I hate trump but i hate the conspiracy as well. You can't expect me to believe someone training a 20yo to accurately aim a shot that glance past trump right ear, and then have him killed on the spot. that's some elite sniper shit the american would love to hire into their rank and send off to invade other country.
The theory is that Trump's injury was faked.
The purpose was to aim at the crowd, around Trump. The ear injury is self inflicted
Trump did get everyone to look away at a PowerPoint just before hand….
Just sayin
Yeah, nah.
A few cm to the right and he’d had hit his fucking skull. No way is he ever going to sign off on something so risky to his life. He’s a fucking coward, he wouldn’t stand still to get shot at.
We all know how dumb he is.
But we can’t actually think he’s that dumb…
Even someone incredibly brave would want the scenario to be much better controlled. A gun locked down to an immovable fixed point, a hard surface like a wall to lean against to calibrate the position of the head… but even then the margin of error is just too large.
