(Reposting @buyeuropean@feddit.org's post to federate sticky post and adding a bit of new info. Here you can find the original post.

Additionally: A link to a post where the dev answers questions about buy-european.net's philosophy and reasoning around their decisions.

We worked the last months on a new completely ad-free database for European products, brands, services and companies. A few days ago we released the site. The website focuses on usability with a simple search form and a clear structure. After the technical development we are now in the process of filling the database with content. The website is currently available in English and German!

You can also submit your own suggestions for European products, Non-European products that you try to find alternatives to, and categories that may be missing.

If you have any feedback, we would appreciate it. If you like it and want to share it, we appreciate that too. :)

Thanks in advance!

I am looking for fun and political enamel pins, and haven't found any good european stores.

I was thinking of having some political ones and some fun ones on my backpack.

Showing my support for various causes.

Canadian here.

I needed to get new handlebar tape for my bike. Our local shops have a lot of American brands, including stuff Made in the USA.

But a few places carry European brands, so I decided to take a look.

I settled on Grepp fabric handlebar wrap (Made in Sweden using materials sourced from Europe), and some gel pads from Fizik (Made in Italy).

Along with Wippermann chains (Made in Germany), and the fact that my bike is from Decathlon (French company), I've been more than happy to send money to my European friends.

I was already used to Debian Linux for 3 years.

I was already used the browser Mozilla Firefox + uBlock.

I was already used to having a dumbphone instead of a smartphone. (I don't regret it).

This year, I started financially giving money to free open source software like VLC, Krita, Inkscape, Gimp, Qbittorrent. For too long, I have used amazing open source software without contributing. For far too long, I have taken them for granted. We live in a world where we should take nothing for granted.

I started buying Signal toothpaste (Unilever) instead of Colgate toothpaste (USA). Until I find a brand that is actually even smaller than Unilever.

But Google was the real challenge.

I had another email account, but my Gmail account had a ton of stuff on it. Youtube ? I liked it. But I can put my favorite channels in my bookmarks.

It took some time to sort out everything.

But I actually did it.

It's over.

Finally.

FINALLY

Fuck the US social model. Inhuman vile shit :

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2025/02/10/inhaler-cost-death-optum-rx-walgreens/

Increasingly, this cancerous social model is spreading. Starting - as usual - with the British.

According to multiple sources who spoke to their favorite newspaper (The Financial Times), UK CEOs are now asking their friends on their boards to be paid exactly like American CEOs:

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/may/03/london-stock-exchange-chief-calls-for-uk-firms-to-pay-bosses-more/

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2024/mar/10/when-17m-isnt-enough-ftse-firms-plead-to-pay-bosses-millions-more

Resist US corporations. Resist huge multinationals.

Support non-profit organizations and small-medium sized businesses.

Often people will ask me to share my Amazon wishlist for birthdays/christmas. It's pretty convenient for them, and it'll mean I'm getting something I'm genuinely after.

However I'm trying to avoid Amazon going forward. Are there any websites you'd recommend that allow you to share a wishlist which collates links from other sites?

Hello,

The short version of what we want is end-of-life plans or repair instructions for future online-only games so that people can keep what they paid money for and not have it shut down with no recourse. We don't want servers to run forever, just to decouple support from your ability to play the game. We have <80 days to get our Citizens' Initiative to the European Commission!

  3. Curve provides cashback and rewards on purchases, which can add up over time and provide extra value.
  4. The app is intuitive and easy to navigate, with clear transaction histories and spending insights.
  5. Go Back in Time: A unique feature that lets you switch the card used for a transaction after the purchase, providing flexibility and control.

CONS:

  1. While the basic version is free, some premium features come with a subscription fee.
  2. Curve is not available in all countries, however, should be available in all EU and the UK.
  3. Isn't an Open Source app and very likely they will sell your transactions history to other company (like google)
