Well you physically can't attack teammates in arc raiders either. And since we all know aggression based match making exists, there is a punishment (albeit ephemeral) for killing other players.

But beyond that I agree, it is fun anarchy

Stickdeath.com was wild, I loved it. I rewatched some recently and did not remember how racist they could be though.

Northerners weren't simply more high minded than southerners concerning slavery - industrialization lessened their dependence on slaves to the point where they could abandon slavery without the economy crumbling.

Presumably this would happen in the south as they industrialized as well.

I'm not sure how to spoiler tag so I'll be vague, but I think it was necessary to have her opt into that romance even though she knew there was a tragic ending to it.

Oh and the short story is very good, as is Ted Chiang's entire collection. I would definitely recommend reading them to any scifi fan.
