Hello everyone! A mom with type 1 diabetes whom I have been in contact with for a few months just notified me that her cab person left her stranded. She only went out to aquire food from a pantry!

It’s night. Cold. There’s multiple bags. I doubt the roads are super walkable! This is so dangerous. I sent her $10, I only have $19 in my bank now and can’t give more! Last Thursday her landlord gave her a notice of eviction, claiming they would proceed to go to court if her back rent of $1067 was not paid in full by Friday afternoon.

I've been sending her the funds as soon as they came in, even paid for dinner one night the kids unplugged her freezer. You guys have all been life savers!

Unfortunately, we had failed to meet this goal on time, still at around $229 raised. But when the deadline actually came, the office remained unclear and dismissive about an actual court date. It's safe to assume she was given an unlawful amount of time to pay back her due, and the document posed no legal threat... not immediately

It's hard for my friend to have consistent communication with her, which makes sense as she's been exhausted & still job searching, but its certain that this goal still must be met. Landlord was eager to intimidate, and means she and three kids are very much unsafe

I appreciate everyones help. We are very much almost there and would like to request your continued aid. Our new goal is to have this met early this week!

Today, Mem was talking about acquiring some decor like a rug and some arts so the house has some colors and their mental health won’t deteriorate over time from being in an very bland place like the one they are in now. In fact, I just started a painting, it’s of a moth with the color scheme of the trans to mail to them later!

We are also worried that ever since the keys were secured, a lot of the donations ceased. It’s so dangerous as Mem and D has to use savings for things they fundraised for to just have one meal a day. They have to spend the 3k raised recently this week to move. And if any of the utilities shuts off at their new place where they can’t pay on time, water, gas, electric, Mem, D and cat will be evicted.

Mem needs security. Mem needs a secure environment to not become more and more disabled for a chance to survive. They need to have an environment where they can sleep as much as they want and be able to think about more things than the next dollar. Any and all support is appreciated. We’ve come so far with everyone’s support. Now we are in a race against time to raise $1325 under 3 day’s time so three lives, Mem, D and cat can get into the only house they have.

I have hope we can push through, but only with community care - your contribution is a lifeline for Mem.

This is the chance Mem has been waiting for and trying for the past months to make happen. This goal has to be completed. No help is too small, I know some of us got gift cards, money, etc from family and friends over Christmas and will for the upcoming new year, please pay it forward to Mem! I know some of us can’t spare even a dollar, but your time & effort is also invaluable! Please ask others to contribute to Mem’s survival or otherwise spread the word?

This lease was signed after 7 denies and $800 spent in housing applications.

Today, on the way to sign the lease, Mem’s car started breaking down on the highway, on top of this Mem has been staying up regularly 18 hours every day to raise funds, take care of household things, etc. Sleeping extremely irregularly, and malnourished. Using as little money as possible, saving up the funds they have gotten as much as they can.

All of this would break even an abled person, but for Mem who has been disabled their entire life- and became multiply disabled in 2021 - it is even more horrible. For some context of what Mem is dealing with, they have a condition called ME/CFS, and the stress and overworking Mem has to endure to survive is indescribably harmful to their health and wellbeing. It’s agonizing for them, and even to me as a friend seeing their hardship.

Seeing Mem working themselves to death for a chance to live is horrifying, their vibrant life shouldn’t be cut short like this.

I have found a lot of warmth among this small site, I’m humbling pleading, please send Mem some hope that they desperately need, however you can.

I illustrated a real conversation I had with a friend 2 days ago…. She asked me why I priced my art so low, and then asked if I knew what is surplus value. I didn’t very much, so she then explained it to me. I was like, no, this is actually very different, oh ho ho, well, the materials themselves were provided to me by the school for free* I only spent hours putting everything together and drawing it so it wasn’t worth very much.

The embarrassment I felt as she said, “star, you illustrated my point perfectly. You are so good at giving me examples”

Then I was like. Wait, you should pay people for their time too? I didn’t think my time was worth any money, and then she judged me ever harder (very silly)

My Black trans disabled friend, Mem, needs to be ready to go sign lease, pay any pro-rated rent, start insurance and schedule utility transfers… all covered in their $821 ($389 now!!) remaining goal. They are very disabled and they won’t survive being homeless again.

Mem has been extremely stressed, the waiting is agonizing, especially as they are also autistic, but we have to have hope for a better future.

I’m willing to draw almost anything within my capability and that’s not bigoted and reactionary, and if I can’t do it, and it is a skill issue, I will learn how to draw it for you. :)
