OpenSuse Tumbleweed really is amazing. If I ever get tired of Pop, Tumbleweed is absolutely what I would consider as an alternative.

I'd definitely start off with one of the common, popular distros. Namely Pop!_OS, Kubuntu, since I know it's fairly easy to install Nvidia drivers there. Also maybe OpenSuse Tumbleweed if you wanna try out what a rolling release distro is, without jumping to Arch. Then once you're comfortable with that, then decide where you want to move on, if at all. I've been on Pop for over 4 years now, and I still love it. :)

Nice, yeah I just installed Debian 12 on an older Macbook Pro, and it runs absolutely fantastic. And yeah, same here for WIndows. I did have a Windows partition for a while, but eventually I just deleted it to make more room for Steam games. xD

Definitely start off with a more beginner distro like Pop, Zorin, or Mint. Then once you comfortable, you can decide where to move on from there, if at all. I've been on Pop for 4 years now, and still love it. :)

Yeah, I have Arch on a laptop I play around with, and it's cool and all, but ultimately I'd never run it as my main OS on my system. I have played around with OpenSuse Tumbleweed too, and I did quite like that. If I was gonna go for a rolling-release, I'd definitely choose that.

Currently for me, I run Pop!_OS on my main system, have for over 4 years now, and also on my Thinkpad X1 Yoga. Also just installed Debian 12 on an old 2013 Macbook Pro, and Qubes OS on another older Lenovo Ideapad.

No worries! This is a place for all Linux Furs, of all skill and interest levels, to be. :)

Fantastic!!! I didn't even think of this, but this is an excellent idea.

I'm starting work on what I hope to make a browser extension to automatically connect back to your primary instance of choice if you visit another instance. Doing so cause I got tired of having it be that I'd visit an instance (like from the Rust subreddit) and not have it be linked to here so I can follow stuff. I'll have it be a user can set their primary instance, then when they visit another one, they can easily have it connect back properly so they can follow communities and interact there.

(Apologies if that sounded confusing... I'm still not sure on all the verbage for the Fediverse. Hopefully it'll make sense when I release it x3 )

Lol! You win the award for the first "IuA, btw" comment. xD

Heh, I can't actually see what it says cause of the blackout, though I saw they were considering abandoning Reddit entirely (albeit with Discord mentioned as the main go-to, which doesn't seem like the best choice...).

Given Lemmy is written in Rust, it really would be fitting if they spun up their own instance to create a new community. Heck, it would actually be beneficial to them, as having a central Rust instance would allow for multiple sub-communities for different topics, such as help requests, project showoffs, memes, etc. That would be amazing to see, if it actually happens.
