My boomer trait: I don't use big social media apps like most people my age (19). You could argue that it's pretty common but it always comes up in conversation. I'd rather not be concerned about someone else’s life, but engage with people who talk about their experiences and knowledge.

I’ve started commenting more often. I don’t really have much to share/talk about atm, but commenting here is great because there is a significantly reduced chance of someone replying to my comment just to try and 1-UP my ass.
And for the better too. People will come to realize that there are better ways to socialize on the internet.
I am definitely more active on here than Reddit. I’ve had the same experience as you but I’m tired of gawking at those know it all cockbags. They’ll be here at some point but yeah, it’s a nice community here.
Thinking about starting my own personal email server, but to use it seriously I’ll have to weigh the pros and cons. If anyone has anything on this to share I’d appreciate it.
Eventually the people will see the truth and decide for themselves. Apart of me thinks that its a good thing that there isn't THAT many people coming over to Lemmy, but another part would love to see how it would flourish with even more users. Either way we can just hope for the best of the platform.
