Yep, same here. Whereas ChatGPT and Perplexity would tell me it didn't know the answer to my question, Bard/Gemini would confidently hallucinate some bullshit.

From the article:

UPDATE 5/17, 6 PM: Western Digital has confirmed that the new 2.5-inch T GB HDDs uses 6 SMR platters

SMR = shingled magnetic recording https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shingled_magnetic_recording - "continuous writing of large amount of data is noticeably slower than with CMR drives"

I like the system in Singapore. Organ donation is mandatory, though you can complete a form to opt out. If you're on the opt-out register, you have a lower priority to receive organ transplants. Fair is fair.

If lossless and sound quality matter enough, use a portable dac with wired headphones. Otherwise, accept the compromises of using Bluetooth.

Watch 'The Wire' - the good guys are bad guys, bad guys are good guys. It's all mixed up!

This is more like anti-vaxxers scamming themselves and others, and the so-called scammers are just providing the required service.

Their title says "flat display", yet further down the article, they write:

... the display is almost flat. The glass panel has a very subtle curve on the side edges (possibly from 2.5D curved glass)...

So, not flat then.

Fuck curved edges on Samsung phones, they're an arse for screen protector edges wanting to lift up when that wind blows the wrong way.

A QR code just links to a URL. If you link to a URL that you own or control, it'll be fine. The problem comes when people use a link shortener that allows the destination to be changed later, or if they lose control of the domain or its backend.

Substitute your beliefs in FOSS etc for god, veganism, Apple, Trump, Biden, your favourite band - and realise that everyone's on their own journey. Don't be that guy forcing your beliefs on your friends and family. Or, like you do, find a social group that does share your beliefs. Enjoy them. Enjoy your family and friends.

It's a bit wet without a biscuit served. I suggest a rich tea or custard cream. If you can't get those in the US, any of your weird ass deviant cookies will do.

Hi, Lemmy is even better with Boost, thank you!

In the internal browser, is it possible to add an option for reader view?

This will make it easier to read some articles that render too poorly or busily. (I know it's the website's fault, not Boost's - but still, reader view improves things!)

Anyone else who supports this feature request, please upvote :)

a persistent notification is no longer required. A key icon in the status bar is the only indication you get that the VPN is enabled

You still get the key icon. Is the fuss that it now takes more screen taps to reach the on/off, rather than just using the persistent notification?

Pirate some things, pay for some things. It doesn't have to be absolute.
