Everything on the left (except Tux) is terrible today and that's fine, things evolve. It would be fun to see modern versions of each of those logos though.

I was so in love with Pidgin for a while that I even made a mock-up for how to improve it. I think I still have blog posts up about it.

I don't know if I'm stupid or if NextCloud's instructions are stupid, it's probably me and subsequently I'm struggling.

For all of my Docker stuff, I move the config directory to my opt folder with a simple

    volumes:
     - /opt/APPNAME/config:/config

And generally have the data on a remote drive like

    - music:/music

volumes:
  music:
    driver_opts:
      type: "nfs"
      o: "addr=192.168.X.XXX,nolock,soft,rw"
      device: ":/mnt/HD/Public/Shared Music"

This works perfectly for everything and I'm generally pleased with how things run. But NextCloud is throwing a bunch of words at me and I don't get it. Why can't it be as simple as what I'm already doing? Why do I have to declare

    environment
      - NEXTCLOUD_DATADIR=
      - NEXTCLOUD_MOUNT=

And why is it pointing me to? https://github.com/nextcloud/all-in-one?tab=readme-ov-file#how-to-store-the-filesinstallation-on-a-separate-drive

Which just points you to https://www.guguweb.com/2019/02/07/how-to-move-docker-data-directory-to-another-location-on-ubuntu/

I'm looking at this Docker Compose like...

NextCloudPi was so simple to set up. If not for being stuck on v25, I'd have been happy with it. 🥺

I'm lucky enough to have two cats. The first I had since she left her mother, the second a couple months since she left her mother.

The first, named Mohkno started out as a hero. She used to eat half her food and leave the rest for the second cat, Shadoe.

However, feeling that Shadoe had gained enough weight and settled down, she began getting designs on Shadoe's breakfast.

Shadoe is kinda useless, because she hears any sound and she runs away and so Mohkno has a free run at her food.

Yesterday I thought I'd finally fix it, because short of watching them eat, there has to be a better way

alias: Alert feeding problem
description: ""

    platform: device
    device_id: stairs_motion
    entity_id: ce1e3a9c8fdf74534d3fb0cbbd155f64
    domain: binary_sensor
condition:

    condition: device
    device_id: kitchen_presence
    entity_id: e28cd1385692e6d3044f87a813f7e238
    domain: binary_sensor

    before: "10:00:00"

      - sun
action:
  - service: notify.notify
    metadata: {}
    data:
message: "Mohkno is trying to steal food again! "
mode: single

Needless to say, I caught Mohkno trying to sneak back downstairs four times to pilfer Shadoe's breakfast. The funny thing is, every time I would get the notification, I would catch her sneaking downstairs while staring at the kitchen door, so she knows she's misbehaving.

Anyway, it's stupid, but thought I'd share.

I have a NAS which I use for storage and I have a Pi which I use for serving applications.

I thought I could just throw Calibre Web on the Pi, point it to my NAS and then be good to go. Charlie_Murphy_Wrong.gif

So Calibre Web said it needed a Calibre database, cool. I installed Calibre proper and created the database. But its not aware of my chosen book location.

I feel like I'm going all about the houses and introducing a level of complexity beyond what is required? Before I knuckle down and persist with this, I thought I'd ask and make sure I'm going in the right direction for what I'm trying to achieve?

It's assinine that these companies keep investing in ideas that A/ Rely on video and B/ Rely on the majority of their content creators contributing their content for free.

The only thing that Twitch was ever going to do was drive traffic elsewhere. Hence why Amazon bought them. But they failed to get good at being Twitch. It still sucks in terms of performance and there's no subsidiary platform for Twitch clips. Also didn't they chase off most of their adult content creators?

So they're basically trying to be profitable off of traditional advertising? Ha!

Capitalists gonna try and capitalise. I've seen lots of people try and create services like this for mastodon.

Great post BTW.
