I like this idea.

I have an appliance that resets the time to midnight when plugged in. I had an idea to connect a smart plug to it on a schedule to set the time automatically.

I get better game performance in Linux, but I still use Windows mostly due to CAD software (just like you're saying). I hope those companies see the value in developing for Linux, but I'm not sure the statistics are there to convince them yet. Chicken/egg problem?

In addition to the emulator someone mentioned, you might want to try scrcpy, which lets you control and view your phone on your computer. No root needed and easier to use than an emulator.
