"Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them. In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion" - Karl Popper
I think the pardox of tolerance as its often used in popular discussion is use to justify to intolerance of any idea that is even a little intolerant(i would argue this is nessasary eg we should not tolerate pedos) where as i take the source material with its included context to mean that we should be intolerant of intolerance in its actions not its utterance.
There actually is a humane way to make foie gras the birds will naturally eat enough without any human intervention to create a sufficiently large liver (its more expensive but something people are willing to pay for). Then again animals are not people they have fuck all rights and who gave these dickheads the right to say what other people can do. And how is it thw fault of a restaurant thats simply following the laws of supply and demand.
