Honestly I hadn't even considered it until this moment. But I don't think I have it in me anymore. Though I do hope that it exists at some point. Lemmy could do with more cute animals.

I like it, enjoy it for the most part and am glad it exists. But the politics comes off a bit weak and tips sometimes too far towards the self-congratulatory ethno-centrism of bad early 20th century anthropology.

Be a bigot, lose your money ticket.

Act prejudiced, get no more of this! do money hand gesture where you rub thumb against index and middle finger

Conservative thought? Money is naught!

Right wingers get no dinner.

Neoliberal hate means an empty plate.

That's all I can currently muster... I'm not a fan of General Custer. I like yours better.

I don't disagree, but I'm one of those that was tearing up and wanted it to keep going because I was so invested in the world and characters. I would have happily accepted at least a few more "fade-to-black and then continue"s.

They did the same to me, I was the top moderator and creator of Animalsbeingderps and Amsterdaments, and had 10-11 years of almost daily content and discussions, I was in general quite outspoken about conservatism and racism on reddit, and the IRL cultures that breed these types of mentalities. I was also pretty active on vaporents which was in nono territory for a while. First all of my alt accounts were permabanned, then the first time I made a comment on lemmy against reddit's actions with this account, my main account was also permabanned. Bloody priceless.

I believe Peter Jackson has a lot to answer for in this regard. I feel like the LotR films were the watershed films for longlongfilm acceptance, and they are actually worth the watch in their longest forms.

But then The Hobbit films happened. I remember feeling that 3 films sounded ridiculous and that they were all unnecessarily long considering the length of the book and, compared to the original trilogy, they were rather horrible to look at.

There's no such thing as a job necessary for the survival of the human race. The only thing jobs protect is the economic system, which doesn't care about the human race.

Yeah, I made a comment about the decline of reddit here on lemmy and that day I was permabanned. You can see it's the first comment I made here. I had previously run into some other problems and literally all of my alt accounts had already been banned, and I couldn't make any new accounts. I was pretty outspoken and always ready to have confrontational conversations about fascists and racists, which I guess I was too volatile about. I was also very active on vaporents, which also seems somehow connected to all this as it seems problematic for the IPO. All of this is why I was already pretty miffed at the shithole it was becoming. I think I've been pretty anti-reddit for a while, and I guess I was on "thin ice". Another funny thing is I had also just been interviewed for a small article on boredpanda about the animalsbeingderps subreddit as its creator, and very soon afterwards the other mods over at animalsbeingderps sort of pushed me out at reddit admins' request to demod mods who don't mod enough (which was honestly fine as I wasn't much of a moderator). I had my mod privileges taken away and was relegated to "Alumni" status. My main interaction with the site, other than commenting and posting, was that I would start a sub based on a silly/less silly idea, and then make a ton of posts to kick-start them, then if they grew a bit popular I handed them over to other mod wannabes as I moved on. Anyway, good to finally vomit all this out somewhere.

Edit: Grammar and clarity.

That's great. I was the creator of subreddits like AnimalsBeingDerps and AmsterdamEnts among others and was quietly permabanned by the admins. I'm just too tired to do anything about it honestly, but it feels pretty shitty.

Edited for clarity.

I think the tone is really reminiscent of stuff like Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill or Love Actually. Even though it got a bit more sad this season, it's very wholesome and easy to watch.

I feel like you'd like Ted Lasso, also second the users who've said Ghosts (both US and UK).
