Ok. I'll throw myself on my sword and give a different take than what most people are.

I wasnt into reaction videos aka analysis vidoes at all until Kpop Demon Hunters came out. I really like this movie. I've even watched it several times, including once at the theater, which is very unusual for me.

I have a fairly isolated life. Not many friends and the few I do have I only see occasionally. So I don't have anyone I can gush about this movie to let alone rewatch it with or introduce it to.

Putting on a reaction video while walking the dogs lets me listen to someone else enjoying discovering the movie for the first time. Obviously I can't participate, but I've still shared their joy.

An alternate one is singers analyzing music videos. I watched someone going nut over a Beatbox video of Beatpella House, then saw their reaction video of VoicePlay covering Nothing Else Matters. Mindblowing rendition! I would never have found this without scrolling through their other videos. Sometimes being open to new things pays off.

10mm wrenches. Saw a deal online years ago for 20 wrenches for like 20 bucks. I was still doing field work at the the time so 10 and 11 mm were common purchases for me. They didn't break, so there was no need for an expensive warranty. They just got misplaced, usually by a trainee who didnt have their own tools.

It was frustrating because buy even one cheap wrench was $10, but a kit of 8 or 10 wrenches could be bought on sale for $20. I have a few of those kits too, and a few socket kits. I have yet to use most of the pieces in 20 years. I mostlt just needed the 10, 11, and 13mm.

A 20 pack of 10mm for cheap? I couldn't pass that up. Then I stopped working field. Now I have a shed full of tools that I might never use again. Nothing wrong with them except some old batteries maybe. I refuse to get rid of them in case I have to back to field work. But it makes me look like a hoarder.

You may be on to something there. I first tried Manjaro around the same time I started losing my mojo. I thought it was due to getting old and being overweight and lazy, but maybe I should try Ubuntu.

Feel free to make a community, but many communities on that other site got their start on the larger ask sub.

There are a few asklemmy communities that have subscribers already. Start building an audience by posting fun questions there first to see what kind of engagement you get.

It's bad enough that I look like I haven’t slept in three days (I have), but the puffyness under my left eye has a visibly larger radius than the right.

Boring perhaps, but just get up and leave.

This sounds bad for the public in the long term.

It's China. I'm sure there will be executions.

Companies dont really need to know where you are. They just need to know where you aren't. If you are not within a certain threshold of response time to certain cdn servers, then its reasonable to assume that you are outside their contractually obligated broadcast region.

Do the people of York need a Duke or a Lord? Does the roll serve any purpose these days?

This would just end up being Facebook in the long run.

I have to take a first aid course every two years for work. The more I take it, the more determined I am to NEVER use any of it.

The course has gone from "Here's a few things you can do to help someone who is injured or choking" to "Here's how to fuck up your life and make what's left of theirs even worse".

The first aid course has pretty much scared me off of ever trying to help somebody beyond calling for help.

Jesus' instructions on divorce are pretty unJesus like.

Slightly off topic but DAE find it convenient that Jesus' first lecture to his new disciples was about divorce? Like hey, guys. Forget fishing and making money and handling business, and dont worry about your wives anymore.

I looked at sync.com but they dont have a linux client. Any other non-US based suggestions? Canada preferred of course but I'm open to options.
