Yes. Trying at least; (imo) Lemmy hasn't quite got the critical mass yet. The official Reddit app is so crappy that each time I find myself being drawn back in, I leave really quickly. I didn't expect me to find it that bad.

I'm not going to argue against anything you've said, I'm not going to try to fact check it, & I believe to be largely correct.

I also think its irrelevant.

In the next few years (couple of decades) we are going to see increased wildfire burning of the boreal forests in the global north which is going to release (what I believe is technically called) "a catastrophe fuck-ton" of gasses into the atmosphere. We've tipped over the tipping point.

Is this something I can apply in my profile?

[-] giantshortfacedbear@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

Yeah, that's my thought. It's all well & good to say they can, but how? It's not a capability of the OS, so the only way this could work is some kind of carrier patch (?) or an unpatched bug.

Yeah. And it's having no noticeable effect on inflation ... it's almost like they are turning the wrong dial. The people hurting most with these interest rate rises are those who can least afford it and consequently have least effect on inflation.

Is the poster's IP address, system, or other system identifier/location, tracked?

If I have users giantshortfacedbear and throwaway123. Then it could be inferred or impled that they are same person if there are from the same IP or phone.

Flush the water out is really the only option, the longer it sits in tailings ponds the more likely it is to have an uncontrolled spill. We absolutely need someone we can trust to define 'clean' though -- and that's not the government nor the mining companies; and we need someone we can trust to monitor it and confirm it is 'clean'.

That's a lot of money for Rice. For Arsenal's sake I hope it doesn't work out.

I've not seen, or perhaps not paid attention to, any blame game. This is exactly what all the modeling for climate change predicts, and it's gonna get worse. So if people want to point fingers, the list of countries and industries that have produced most CHG gases ever, and currently, is easily available online.
