Because it makes a healthier base to work with or to simply use it without caring

Increasing privacy (and sometimes security)

[–] foremanguy92_@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

So what do you about it?

For sure datas are everywere and will maybe try to remove it, but (as said to another person) what do you think about this: https://lemmy.ml/comment/18649355 Thank you

This is surely one of the best option but its time hungry to setup, read this reply: https://lemmy.ml/comment/18649355 What do you think?

Thank you, to be clear these datas are not really compromising but it's still datas and I don't want them on internet. My point of view was, is it better to leave it and fake that we are a "normie" (sorry for the word, a little bit negative..) and that I don't care about being there or to try to remove it. My argument is that trying to remove it would make me shine like a glowstick by saying that I care bout it. What's your opinion?

Waterfox try to remove some blobs of Firefox out of the box, so it's better for the normal user

I don't know what is spam for you, but when you get three message requests from three girls respectively named Tania, Clara and Ella that are contacting you about you carrier or your management skills, I call it spam.

The way that Signal integrates phone number is odd because it opens up the spam door. O understand why Signal use phone numbers this way (to make "normies" adopt Signal more easily like WhatsApp would do) but it not the best to kind of contaminate the network with the traditional cell network

Scams, girls wanting to chat with you, incredible money opportunities...

You can go to Simplex (for sure a lot of people here already done it) but if only privacy nerds get to this place this is not a great solution. We (I'm talking about us using Lemmy and chatting on SimpleX) must convince people, starting by friends and family to stop using these fucking socials then at this point SimpleX will be considered as a viable alternative

Just the old .ssh/config file, works like a charm on all terminals :)

Hello, have setup my proxmox server since some weeks recently I found that LXC containers could be useful as it really separate all my services in differents containers. Since then I figured out to move my docker's services from a vm into several LXC containers. I ran into some issues, the first one is that a lot of projects run smoother in docker and doesn't really have a "normal" way of being package... The second thing is related to the first one, since they are not really well implemented into the OS how can I make the updates?
So I wonder how people are deploying their stuffs on LXC proxmox's containers?
Thanks for your help!

EDIT : Tried to install docker upon debian LXC but the performances were absolutely terrible...

In extend to my previous post :https://lemmy.ml/post/22320175

I cannot install drupal 11 on a fresh Debian install, in fact I tried everything and it's no more the fault of proxmox, but the PHP installation.

Drupal 11 needs php 8.3 to work, but Debian official repos go only to php 8.2, so I used the sury.org Debian repo to install the latest PHP version. And this is the start of the problem, this install gives me the error shown in the other post, exhausted memory.

I search in the info.php, memory related stuff, and the only difference between the "official" PHP (8.2) and sury one is that in the mysqldn section it shows statistics to yes. But I don't know how to disable it...

Any ideas? Thanks 😉

I just install a complete new Drupal install in a Debian VM inside proxmox, everything works as intended, but I cannot add content to it(it gives me a 500 error).

Apache logs show me that the memory is exhausted, search online, no real answer, tried a lot of thing in PHP.ini, .htaccess… At first the VM had 1 vcpu and 1GB of RAM, not working, I’ve put the PHP memory limit to 1GB, give 8GB to the vm, and 4vcpu. Not working, just “loading” the 500 longer.

Error got into /var/log/apache2/error.log : PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 262144 bytes)) in Unknown on line 0. This is why I give the vm 8GB and change php memory_limit to 1GB but it did nothing…

Have no solutions, as now. If you have one please let me know! thanks 🙂

EDIT: this is not the problem of drupal 11, tried to install it with drupal 10, same result, I think it has something to do with proxmox

As the title what is the best file sharing service than can be self-hostable? Need encryption

EDIT : To be more precise I want something as an alternative to Wetransfer not Google Drive, something to get a link to dl files

Hey, I've setup a promox server and running some stuffs in it, and basically I want to know how to have alerts notifications that goes from one service to another, for example : I'm running NUT on proxmox shell, and I want to have an alert in Truenas (and in NextCloud running in Truenas) to say that the server will shutdown soon to the users that are actually using my cloud. Thank you 😄

Just a post to say the goods of using SimpleX instead of others "private" messenger. First it doesn't not require any id, phone number, etc... Can create how many accounts that you want! Decentralized servers, everyone can run and use own servers, and communicate with others! Big privacy side! Look at this one of the best https://privacyspreadsheet.com/messaging-apps. The only negative is the usability of the app, this is why it needs support and be democratize to gain attraits to people, and maybe one day be one the most used messenger app...

For the Paris 2024 Olympics, the city got the "right" to use the AI surveillance technology in the street. As we thought, they are going to keep this as long as they can.

We need to do something against this IRL mass surveillance, going every day more into our private life

What are the best places to dl FLAC music?

Hello, I'm beginner to QubeOS and I don't know really how to use it properly. I'm not really an absolute beginner in Linux (running it since 2 years), but I've never tried it and these I wanna try so installed it 2 days ago. At first it's very good, not laggy, etc.. It's what I want! But today I want to really set this thing up for every day use, but it's not really convenient to use for some of my use cases. So I need your help for global tips to use the system and for my use cases :

  • Never really liked use the default Firefox ESR + hardening, used the flatpak app of Mullvad, basically I want to know the way of installing apps

  • Want to set up "hacking" lab, mainly Kali or Parrot and other to use with the networking to "hack" them, basically I want to run multiples VMs

Thank you guys 😁
