Sorry, I guess my writing isn't clear.

Asolutely. But if it comes down to Trump V Newsom, I'm not gonna decide all is hopeless and not vote.

In the meantime, I'll continue volunteering for the progressive politicians in my area, I'll continue building bridges with my MAGA neighbors and friends in order to pull them away from the cult, I'll continue working in my community to ensure our disenfranchised peoples are sheltered from our fascist administration, most importantly I'll continue resisting the urge to put more hate into a world that has plenty of it.

I never said I "support" Newsom. I said I'd vote for him over Trump. Fuck Newsom, just fuck Trump more.

Because that's the only dems there are?

Yeah, that's pretty much true

I doubt an edit would help, to me what I wrote is clear, i lack the writing skill to make it any clearer. I've found attempting to write with nuance online is usually a waste of keystrokes anyway, few read and contemplate before reacting.

In what way, did I say I support "diet republicans"? I absolutely want ICE to be abolished by the way.

You read the words, but you missed the meaning, and on top of that you read things into my words, that I did not say... I never mentioned rallying behind "right leaning dems", that's what you assumed I meant.

Thanks for telling me what I'm saying, but that ain't it.

[–] ejhal@lemmy.world -2 points 12 hours ago

That's like, your opinion, man

[–] ejhal@lemmy.world -2 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

I didn't ignore it, I simply disagreed with it, or at least doubted the conclusion.

I don't disagree that Newsom could lose, or even that it would be likely, but I don't see it as certain, because there is no certainty.

I do get behind progressive candidates, I offer zero support to Newsom at this time, but I realize that no matter how hard I support my favorite progressives, there is no gaurentee they'll win.

When it comes to 2028, I don't care much who is against the MAGA candidate, I'll almost certainly vote for them.

If I had a button on my desk that immediately swapped Trump for Newsom, I'd press it in a heartbeat, not because I think Newsom is a "good guy" or even that he'd be do the right thing. But rather because everything we can do to stem the tide of fascism is a good thing.

That is exactly what I'm saying though, perhaps with less colorful language. We're not in disagreement.

Again, you're replying to what you think I said, not what I actually said. I agree with you, we're on the same side.

Love you, hope you realize this infighting in only helping the fascists.
