Nice, thank you.

The subscription list has not worked for me for a couple of days (since the app store version 1.0.7 if I recall correctly). I installed 1.0.8 and it persists. Restarted my phone a few times since I first saw the issue, even fully reinstalled from the app store (and re-setup everything manually...), nothing seems to fix it.

Other apps are showing it just fine, so I think it's not my account or the instance.

Ahh, got it. Yeah I guess it can take a toll when people go too toxic, but on the other hand there are people who get their buttons pressed too easily.

Yes, I think Memmy had a revamp but I'm not sure of the details. I think it's still React, but the devs mentioned "learning some tricks and how to avoid some mistakes".

I don't think I'm being sensitive though. First, I really don't think a decision to quit Lemmy would happen soon. Second, even though there are several apps for it under development, as I said, they're all at different stages of maturity and none of them cover all the bases I expect to use in the long term. I honestly hate having to reach around the screen to navigate, which is my biggest problem with all of them now that Memmy lost its gestures navigation. Then there are smaller stuff like Avelon not re-blurring NSFW after you tap on it. Or the crashes. Or the opening Lemmy links in a browser view instead of a regular view in the app. Some of these issues are shared between all of the 7 apps I have for Lemmy on my phone.

I'm going to give it time, I understand very well how most of these apps are side projects. My main concern is that either these apps eventually get abandoned, or they go paid/partly paid like Avelon, while still not providing me with the experience I expect to get. I don't have the inclination to relive the awful experience Reddit forced us through for years with a different name.

Not sure if this is the place to report issues, but 1.0.8's Censor NSFW is broken.

Yep, Avelon is very good already. Thank you for the great work!

Ok, a couple of videos that didn't load:

And one that did not load and also made the player/app unresponsive (NSFW): https://lemmynsfw.com/post/1495824

I'm gonna reinstall the App Store version and check if the performance perception holds water.

Edit: No, you are right, it does not. The TF version is visibly faster than the App Store one.

Yep, this post was written from Avelon. Other than the lack of markdown support in the editor, it looks fine to me.

For #1, I've only had 1 situation where stuttering happened, which was after around an hour or so of doomscrolling. It wasn't severe, but noticeable. Then I tapped on a video and the app went irresponsive, then I reloaded it.

The performance I mentioned is just slower scrolling. On previous versions scrolling felt faster than on v1.0.5.4. It may be just wrong perception, though. Lemmy's instability has made me browse it less frequently. I'll reinstall the App Store version a bit later and see if it's just memory failing me.

For #2, both videos and GIFs. I'll try to mark down which types (and host domain) and update you later.

At this point it is crystal clear that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, but I'll potentially waste some more time to type information that I believe are the most important to rebate your most wrong/insane claims.

First, you seem focused on Taiwan’s recent history (perhaps influenced by what you’ve seen regarding Hong Kong since 2019?), but Taiwan’s history is actually a lot longer than that. You can use this Wikipedia link as reference going forward if you at all plan on stopping being a non-sense-spewing piece of trash, but considering how that was just 1 Google search away from you and you still didn’t manage to do it, I don’t have hope for it.

Taiwan, much like the vast majority of East Asia (if not all of Asia) is not as diverse as the US, so your bullshit about Taiwan being ethnically Chinese is the same as the US being ethnically British is a great sign of you being completely clueless about what the hell you’re talking about.

Over 90% of its population is reported as Han Chinese by its own fucking government, so it is clear that there is absolutely nothing wrong with me saying that Taiwanese people are ethnically Chinese, while it is completely wrong for you to compare that statement to the bullshit that Americans are ethnically British. There are Americans who are, but that’s only one of the many minorities in that country. Meanwhile, 90%+ of Taiwanese people are Han Chinese, so please stop your nonsense.

Second, another useful link for you. Go read it. I don’t claim to be any sort of expert in Chinese/Taiwanese history, but I know enough to not state trash like you have been. Taiwan as we know it today is vastly the result of mainland Chinese people migrating to the island over political situations that happened less than 100 years ago. This fact adds even more credence to the point of Taiwanese people being ethnically Chinese.

And finally, as others have already told you, Taiwan calls itself Republic of China.

I hope you learn how to find answers to your confused mind before you speak and especially, before you attack others due to your own ignorance.

You have a nice life.

You have some good points but I'm not sure TSMC are looking for highly-skilled people to work at their off-site factory. I honestly believe that most, if not all high-skill positions would be filled by Chinese people. They need factory workers to keep the factory running, I seriously doubt they'd expect the US factory to be able to create anything new on its own in the foreseeable future.

But at any rate, your points also show that it's not just the price at play here.

Lastly, I agree with you regarding LTT. I didn't mean that they were bringing some insightful new information, just that it was the only place I saw it even being mentioned. I live in mainland China and see how Chinese companies treat employees, that's where I got my replies from.

Yeah I believe you'd have to do it per account. I also think any clients that implement filtering "globally" are bound to cause confusion in users who will forget that they blocked on one account and wonder why they can't find it on another.

Memmy doesn't even seem to have a centralized place to see blocked communities yet, so I think that would need to be implemented first.
