A lemmy instance won’t start federating until a user has searched for and subscribed to a particular community. So, taking a peek at your instance it looks like you’ve only subscribed to one local “Announcements” community.

This is where things need to get a little creative. On my instance I have an account whose sole purpose is to search for and subscribe to interesting communities to fill up my “All” tab. I then use my main account to focus on the communities that I want to interact with regularly. I wrote a little script to automate that, but it’s still pretty simple to do manually.

It has to do with halation. White text on a black background is blurrier than black text on a white background. There’s a nice accessibility description here.

I have astigmatism, so dark mode is harder on the eyes when reading text. So, even though I like the aesthetics of dark mode, I need to use light mode to not put so much strain on my eyes.

One downside is that images uploaded to lemmy.world are hosted on lemmy.world. If the instance ever goes down those images are gone since federation does not propagate the files. This is less of an issue for that specific instance, but I could see smaller instances disappearing and causing issues with broken image links.

Awesome, thanks!

I think the full title in the body would definitely address the issue. When I first encountered it, it threw me off before I realized what it was doing - I would click into the post expecting to see the whole title.

Would it be possible to tweak the bot a little? It frequently posts titles that exceed the character limit for the titles. It’s unfortunate because some of the conversations they’re trying to start sound legitimately interesting but they’re cut short before their natural termination.

The ending scene for the mother is what gets me every time.

It’s on my rewatch list since it’s been about twenty years, but I still can’t bring myself to doing so.

I’ve thought about going that route, but ultimately decided to adopt something like portainer.io. My thought process behind it was that some projects within each category may have overlapping dependencies and so I’d end up with multiple entries for a particular dependency in the same file which I didn’t like.

I don’t expose services to the internet from my home lab, so I generally just add host entries manually to each of my computers so that I don’t have to type in ip and port.

Hands down, Requiem for a Dream. That movie is so good but can only really be watched once.

I’d much prefer native plants in a lawn to just a concrete jungle or grass
