Both need to be taxed. And more. If not they'll find loopholes.

If we want to let common people off the hook, it's as easy as progressive taxing. The first million is free (or not heavily taxed) kinda thing works with income as well. Above a certain limit 100% tax makes all the sense in the world.

Reads like a fascism roadmap honestly.

As long as it's based on software rather than hardware I think it's safe to assume it will be lost.

You can reinstall some things (such as the default camera app) from apks you find online, and apps such as Google Maps can be downloaded from the app store (which contains all apps from the play store). But by default it strips away everything that is installed on the phone by default and replaces it with a degoogled ecosystem, and I don't think it differentiates between different devices.

Pixel 6 is supported through community ports (6, 6 pro, 6a), but unfortunately it is not supported (yet?) by the online installer tool. So it's for people who are a bit more willing to get their hands dirty.

The greatest strength of Italy to me is how unruly it is. No matter who the government is, I trust the people of Italy to do their own thing and to largely carry on as usual.

Not that fascism in Italy wasn't awful, but totalitarianism was a relatively unsuccessful project compared to some other places. And of course ended with Mussolini dangling.

If you own a Fairphone (3-5), Pixel (4, 5, 7 or 8) Nothing phone (1) or OnePlus (7 or 8), it's super easy to install /e/OS using this online installer. Most android apps work well out of the box, but all Google stuff has been stripped away and replaced with MicroG where necessary.

I'm never returning to Google anything.

The whole article reeks of bullshit, with the only source being a "former member of Israel’s Eurovision delegation". But the difference is that Italy and Germany allegedly threatens to leave the song contest in protest, whereas the other countries listed are merely expected to vote to keep Israel in the contest.

Not necessarily the government - this is from the public broadcasters, who should ideally be somewhat independent. Also this article asks us to trust some person from the former Israeli Eurovision delegation as a source.

That said, Italy's current government is a dark cloud over the country. But at least in Italy it feels like an exception. In Germany it's just the same broad coalition as always, and despite being the first country who should really know better they do not seem to be doing any better than the neo-fascists in Italy.

It's really fucking striking.

For most jobs it's hard to do a hiring process without in-person interviews, or at the very least video calls. So I'm not really sure how one could realistically get rid of biases. But I completely agree that whenever there are too many applications to interview everyone individually, the initial screening of applicants should be completely anonymized and rely only only technologies where biases can at least be understood.

For the final step I'm afraid we'll have to try to train people to be less prone to biased decision-making. Which I agree is not a very promising path.

It's not men against women, it's people against billionaires.

It's not the fact that these people are men that I take issue with, it's that they are hypocrites capitalising feminist sentiments without making any actual effort towards real change.

Edit: Since I wrote my response the comment I responded to was changed into something even dumber. I'll let it speak for itself.

Rome has some incredibly impressive sights, but I find it's a difficult city to visit. Finding good food as a tourist is a challenge (though not impossible - I had my best ever restaurant experience there), and distances are crazy without fantastic public transportation. But it has some lovely neighbourhoods, and for me the size of the city walls left a lasting impact. It's hard to wrap one's head around the history.

For me though, the best thing about Rome is how fast one can get to Naples by train. Now that is a city!
